About See Gettysburg

See Gettysburg is designed to showcase the photography of Photographer Rick Anderson. I have been traveling to Gettysburg since I was a small child and, over time, have compiled a very extensive catalog of photographs. The landscape surrounding Gettysburg Pennsylvania is, in my opinion, some of the most beautiful landscape found in the eastern United States. Today, it is hard to imagine the horror that these beautiful fields have witnessed. My aim is to capture and document the beauty of this unique landscape. I sincerely hope that my photography can help demonstrate the need to preserve places such as Gettysburg and thus honoring the men who fought so valiantly here.

About The Photographer

Photographer Rick AndersonRick Anderson was born and raised in the Tidewater Region of Southeastern Virginia. The eldest son of a civil war buff and raised only an hours drive from Jamestown, history has been central in my upbringing. My childhood is full of great memories, including the time spent traveling with my parents and brother. From the many day trips to Williamsburg, or a week spent in Gettysburg, our travels always included a destination with historical significance (very easy to do living in Virginia). I chose Gettysburg as the theme of this project to honor my parents, who taught my brother and I the value of honoring and preserving places such as Gettysburg.
I began taking an interest in photography as a teenager to document the many family outings. Over time my hobby has become a passion, as I rarely leave home today without my camera bag over my shoulder. Today, I reside in South Mills, North Carolina with my wife and two children. If it were not for their devoted love and patience on the days I leave home hours before sunrise only to return hours after sunset, none of this would be possible.
